TOPCHIRO
Pregnancy
Pregnancy brings about incredible changes in a woman’s body. Many of which can often lead to discomfort, imbalance and physical stress. As the baby grows, the added weight can place additional pressure on the lower back, hips, and pelvis. Hormonal changes can cause ligaments and joints to loosen, and lead to instability and pain. Postural changes, a shifting centre of gravity, can alter spinal alignment whilst the body very intelligently aims to adapt to support the growing baby.
At TOPCHIRO, we understand the physical challenges that come with pregnancy and are here to help you feel your best during this transformational time. Our focused chiropractic adjustments are designed to help relieve lower back and pelvic pain, improve mobility, support optimal posture, and enhance nervous system function. This aims to promote a more comfortable pregnancy and improved readiness for childbirth.
Many women choose to see a us throughout their pregnancy to help minimise interference to their nervous system – an essential part of supporting healthy function for both mother and baby. When a mother’s physiology is functioning is at its best, her baby’s health and development is also optimised.
Our experienced Chiropractors at TOPCHIRO use gentle, pregnancy-safe techniques to help balance pelvic bones, muscles and ligaments. This helps to promote optimal physiology and can contribute to a smoother and more natural childbirth.
The 3 Components of a Successful Physiological Birth
(As outlined in the Williams Obstetrics Textbook)
1. POWER:
The nervous system is the body’s communication network and plays a vital role in all physiological functions – including childbirth! For birth to proceed naturally and efficiently, the nervous system must be functioning without interference. At TOPCHIRO, we help to restore and maintain that balance, which promote the body’s natural ability to birth.
2. PASSAGE:
A balanced pelvis is crucial for the baby’s descent through the birth canal. Our chiropractors focus on optimising pelvic alignment and mobility, ensuring that both the pelvis and uterus can move freely and function properly. This can improve comfort during pregnancy and assist in creating an ideal environment for childbirth.
3. PASSENGER:
The baby will instinctively seek the best position for the descent through the birth canal. Optimal positioning is more likely when the mother’s nervous system is balanced, and her pelvis is properly aligned. Chiropractic care supports these conditions, giving both mother and baby the best chance for a smoother delivery.
Chiropractic care is not a substitute for traditional medicine, but it can be a powerful supportive tool during pregnancy. It’s about supporting women as her body undergoes an extraordinary physiological change
Can chiropractic care affect baby positioning and birth outcome?
Yes! Chiropractic care can help to improving the mother’s pelvic balance.
If the mother’s pelvis is out of alignment, the ligaments that connect the pelvis to the uterus increase the tension and can result in a distortion to the baby’s environment.
Can chiropractic care help my baby throughout my pregnancy?
Yes! Chiropractic adjustments to the pelvis can help to release tension around the uterus, allowing the baby to move more freely and assume the best possible position throughout the duration of the pregnancy.
What our clients are saying:

“Can’t begin to explain how much the programme has positively impacted me”
“I started seeing Alex at top chiro early in my second trimester. I had been suffering with bad back pain that was impacting my leg (this was sciatica – but I didn’t know at the time!), I had began losing sleep and was even struggling do daily activities due to the pain.
I had been referred to a physio who gave my pelvic floor exercises- but I knew that it wouldn’t help with the pain I was experiencing. My sister by chance, had mentioned my situation during her own chiropractic appointment where Alex said that they can safely treat women during pregnancy.
I am now 33 weeks pregnant and I can’t begin to explain how much the programme has positively impacted me. I’ve managed to maintain my desired fitness activities, have realistic and manageable exercises to prevent any pain. I can honestly say, if it wasn’t for Alex – I probably would have been signed off work due to pain and lack of mobility.
I can safely say that this has contributed to a very positive and pain-reduced pregnancy. I will continue with top chiro beyond my pregnancy and will also be exploring the optionality for my baby too.
Alex is knowledgeable, makes you feel safe and goes above and beyond to help you. I couldn’t recommend this practice more.”

"The whole team is professional and passionate about what they do"
“I can’t rate TOPCHIRO Aylesbury highly enough! The care I receive is top quality and totally catered to my body. Dr Paris takes great care in customising each appointment for how you’re feeling and what your body is doing. I always leave the practice feeling so much lighter! His adjustments have hugely reduced my upper back pain and increased the mobility of my spine in less than 6 months. I came to the practice early in my second trimester of pregnancy and he’s taken great care to cater for my changing body, and the common aches that come with it. The staff at the clinic are equally as lovely and caring – I look forward to chatting with them each time I visit. The whole team is professional and passionate about what they do, I highly recommend starting your chiropractic care here!”
