More Than Just A Table: How We Adapt Your Chiropractic Adjustments

Nov 19, 2025

One of the most common questions I hear from clients is: “Why do you have so many different tables in the room?”

The answer is simple: because every person is different and their care should be specifically tailored to them.

We all vary in shape, size, age, flexibility, and even the severity of the pain or stiffness we experience. Some people have deeper and more pronounced curves in their spine, while others have naturally flatter curves. Some are incredibly flexible, whereas others are built like stiff rugby players!

All of these differences affect how we position your body and how we deliver an adjustment. The variety of tables in our clinic allows us to adapt to your unique structure so your adjustments are as safe, effective, and precise as possible.

Why We Use Different Benches

In our office, there are four specific benches, each designed for a particular purpose:

  • Pelvic Bench – this bench is used to make adjustments primarily in the pelvis and lower back. It can also provide accuracy when completing leg checks, making it easier to identify pelvic imbalance, or functional short legs.

  • Knee Chest Table – This table is designed for adjustments anywhere along the spine, from the atlas to the sacrum. It can be more comfortable for those with reduced mobility. The upright, angled position can open segments in the spine to create a clear and direct line of drive for the adjustment.

  • Cervical Chair – This chair allows for highly precise neck and upper thoracic adjustments, keeping the spine in a neutral, upright, weight-bearing position, closely mimicking how the body functions in daily life.

  • Hi-Lo Table – The Hi-Lo table is designed to move patients smoothly from standing to lying down, making it especially valuable for those with reduced mobility, acute pain, dizziness, pregnancy, or anyone who finds it difficult to climb onto a traditional bench.

Each of them serves their own specific purpose, and helps us as the chiropractor, provide the best care for you.

Precision Is Key

As chiropractors, our responsibility is to determine the exact table, headpiece angle, body positioning, adjustment vector, and force required to correct your subluxation at right place and time.

This is what makes chiropractic care different – no two adjustments are ever identical.

Every adjustment is tailored to the person in front of us, based on their structure, their presentation, and their needs in that moment.

This level of precision is also why chiropractic care is suitable for all ages – from newborns to individuals well into their golden years.
